Le Neubourg

  • Like Gillingham, Le Neubourg was also a town that once depended heavily on the railway. The line was important for moving agricultural produce, and was popular with people holidaying on the Normandy coast. Unfortunately it was only a local line and became uneconomical, closing in 1969.

  • Today Le Neubourg is a vibrant, lively town. The main thoroughfares bustle with shoppers and workers going about their business. The town enjoys a wide range of shops and services. The Wednesday Market is amongst the most important in Normandy. The town is in the centre of a large agricultural area. The production and processing of flax is an important industry.
